My uncle had sent me a few albums a couple of months back, one being Eddie Vedder’s solo debut, Into the Wild. I’m not a huge Eddie Vedder fan - but do note that I sported the grungey attire back in the early ’90s, as did every other kid I knew. Flannels are rad - [...]

Spoon is so highly regarded in Portland. Obviously they are well liked elsewhere, but ever since Britt Daniel, Spoon’s frontman, moved to Portland and their latest album Ga Ga Ga Ga began receiving so much airtime on the local radio station (94.7 fm), it’s like Portland has gone ga ga (pun obviously intended) for Spoon.
And [...]

The New Kids on the Block (NKOTB for true fans) are back and are about to embark on a nationwide tour. I was a fan back in the day, not a superfan like the Dorfner’s, but a fan nonetheless. They have yet to announce the tour dates but you can read about their [...]
Jeff Healey Dies at Age 41
Posted in Movies, Music, Zany/Miscellaneous on March 4, 2008 | 3 Comments »
You’re probably wondering who Jeff Healey is, right? He was most known for the song Angel Eyes, but was a critically acclaimed blind guitarist who has played with some legends in George Harrison, B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Healey passed away from a form of retinal cancer that he has had since age 1.

Tweedy was looking dapper in his white suit. I’ve got to get me one of those. That is money. I don’t think videos work any more so you’ll have to jet over to YouTube to find them - I’ve got to run.
Wilco Fan Site

Over the past couple of months at work we’ve had an HTML teacher come in to teach our team how to read and write HTML programming code. Our assignment was to create a website/blog from scratch. Being the gigantic Wilco junkie/geek that I am, my decision was easy. I was going to create a Wilco [...]
Ryan Adams Post

I was searching for a recent live Dan Wilson show for my friend Jim, and came across this blog post about Ryan Adams. I’ve written about Ryan Adams a few times and my disdain for his immature behavior. I’ve never put two and two together to think that the crowd is what’s pissing him off. [...]
The Royal A-hole is back

I just got an email that Ryan Adams is coming back to the NW. The nerve of that a-hole! To come back so soon.
He’s playing in Salem, bypassing Portland and making his way up to Seattle. I don’t blame him. I’m sure he’d get booed right out of town if he showed his greasy haired, [...]

If you’re a regular reader of PDX Happenings, you’ll know that we were just back in MPLS for the holiday. You’ll also know that we had dinner with friends on Friday night. During dinner the subject of Wilco came up, which, if you have been reading would know I’ve got an uncontrollable appetite for everything [...]
Decemberists Cancel Tour
Posted in Music, Portland on November 10, 2007 | No Comments »
I just read that the Decemberists have canceled their upcoming tour due to an illness with one of the band members. That sucks as Heather and I (mostly me) were looking forward to the December show. Colin, the lead singer, and Heather’s BFF, was including us on the guest list - which we all know [...]
