…and Hadley’s ass. Poor thing, we’ve tried everything. She’s not into the washcloth in the freezer or the little gel-like teething rings. She just wants to drool, gnaw on everything and cry. It’s frustrating for both of us and sad all at the same time! The 2 teeth have cut through and are protruding upwards. We’ll try to get a good picture when we can, but now we are living moment by moment.
Tylenol doesn’t seem to do much and we left her teething tablets at daycare. Do you have any great teething tricks? What’s worked for you? Don’t be afraid to share! And for those who have been through this before, how long does this last? I thought the painful part was when they actually cut through the gums, but is it painful all the way to the final resting place?
wait for potty training!
Yikes, you’re right! Teething, then the terrible twos, potty training, elementary school, first boyfriends, high school, college tuition……
My new mantra:
One day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time….
Heather,
You might want to ask your doctor if he/she would approve Motrin for Hadley.
The Motrin bottle says 6 mos and up but I think she has the weight to use it.
(Maybe check their website before you call)
Connor had to use Motrin early because Tylenol did absolutely nothing for his ear pain.
Otherwise it sounds like you are doing everything I’ve done. I know the teething tablets work and you are lucky your daycare will give them to him…most won’t.
Hang in there!!
I second Farrah advice. Tylenol did nothing for these kids unless it was rotated with Motrin but motrin by itself seems to do the trick.
My grandmother’s advice woud involve whisky on the gums. But if you’re quibbling about Motrin…best disregard it.
Ava is teething herself right now, this time it’s her bottom eye teeth…those are the worst. Everytime she’s getting in new teeth she doesn’t sleep at night and during the day she’s crabby. She also drools so much her chin breaks out from being wet all the time. For her it’s usually 2-3 days of not sleeping at night and then she’s through the worst of it. I have no advice since nothing really ever worked for us. Maybe keeping her busy will distract her from the pain??
The teeth broke through and we had a rough couple of days but now everything is good again. And her two widdle teefers are soooo cute! Yup, that was baby talk and I’m proud of it.
It’s good to know it’s just a couple of days while they’re breaking through. Thanks for all the helpful responses!
Hi, Heather and John - I was reading through a few posts while visiting Audrey and Marcel in Heidelberg and thought I’d respond to this one. Scott was the only one who seemed to have a really hard time teething. I remember Wes’ cousin in Canada said that what he needed was a “jolly good gum rub.” I’m not so sure that is the answer as but it probably helps the teeth break through the surface.
Hope you guys are doing well. We enjoyed Paris (saw the Mona Lisa and other art at the Louvre, the Champs Elysee, the Eiffel tower, took a boat ride on the Seine, etc.), then had a great time in Norway where we toured from Oslo to Trondheim. The fjords are very picturesque! The mountain roads are a little scary - narrow and some are even gravel - with 10 feet of snow on one side and a 200 ft. cliff on the other! No room for error so we’re thankful for a skilled driver!
Heidelberg is beautiful as usual. We’ll be here a few days, then back to Paris for a couple, then home. Hope all is well. Love you guys! Please give Hadley a squeeze for us. Mom
