We finally got around to planting our herb & vegetable garden the other weekend. We did this for the first time last year, and felt we were actually pretty successful at it – we didn’t actually kill anything. We went way overboard on some (squash and zucchini) of the plants. We weren’t sure if they would survive or not. We aren’t the most diligent gardeners. By the end of the summer we were so sick of grilling squash & zucchini, though it hardly seems possible, that we started just giving it away to whoever would take it. Heather took some to work, and we gave some to our neighbor, who criticized us for keeping them on the vine too long. Nice, huh?
So this year we planned a bit better as we now have an idea of how fast and furious some of these veggies grow. In our veggie garden we planted cukes (green & lemon), leeks, sugar snap peas, tomatoes (green & red), zucchini, hot peppers & rhubarb.
In the herb garden we went with thyme (regular & lemon), basil, parsley, dill & mint (for Mojitos, of course) . Once everything starts coming in we’ll toss some more photos up, as I’m sure you’re all dying to see.
